An Independent Arts Collective

Rooted in Washington, NC

The mission of Alternative Stage is to sponsor and produce films, performance art events, fine art events, and other public art activities in Beaufort County and nearby communities in eastern North Carolina. The main focus of Alternative Stage is to sponsor and produce original works by North Carolina artists and charitable activities designed to assist nonprofits engaged in charitable work within the community. Alternative Stage will strive to provide locations and events to incubate artists and works that have not yet found a place to be presented in the area, providing cultural and artistic diversity to Beaufort County and nearby communities.

Theatre

We produce new plays by local authors as well as classic works of the theater. The proceeds from these plays often go to charity and help fund our nonprofit. We foster playwriting talent in eastern North Carolina.

Film

Films we have produced or co-produced have enjoyed wide popularity online and at festivals. Exciting things are happening in the region's film community. Much of that excitement is being generated by actors, directors, crew member and screenwriters who live in North Carolina's Coastal Plain.

ARTS & More

We honor the creations of painters, sculptors and artists working in practically every visual medium. Ask us about helping to market your visual art or organize an exhibit.

Volunteer Your time & Skills
